Nobody goes into conservation because they're passionate about web development. But the website is the thing that needs to exist so the rest of the work can reach the people who should care about it. We built that website for one of Kenya's most important conservation projects in eight weeks and learned something important about what conservation technology actually requires.

Most SaaS products ask for too much before delivering anything worth staying for. Netglare's old onboarding wizard asked for twelve form fields before showing anyone a dashboard. 0.13% of signups made it through. 

We built nine sprints of monitoring intelligence and then audited our own activation data. The number that came back was 0.13% and it had a lot to say about the gap between building a good product and making it easy to start using one.

Most monitoring tools are passive. They wait for you to show up, log in, and form a picture of how things went. That works fine for people who remember to check. It doesn't work at all for the people who need the information but will never remember to go looking for it. The infrastructure weekly digest was built for exactly that gap.

For several sprints, Netglare has been a very competent monitoring tool. Useful, reliable, exactly what it promises to be. Then Sprint 8 happened. Alert grouping stopped the alert flood. Threshold calibration started watching your patterns and recommending changes. Somewhere in that process, our monitoring tool started doing something closer to thinking.
